About me
I have a chemical engineering background and obtained my PhD at the University of Twente in 2013. I have 14 years of research experience on thermo-chemical conversion technologies of biomass to fuels, such as pyrolysis, gasification, torrefaction and TORWASH. The past five years I have focused on the scaling up of the patented TORWASH technology which aims at converting wet organic residues to solid biofuels (pellets). The positive results obtained using a first prototype in the years 2016-2019 led to the founding of the spin-off company TORWASH BV in 2020 that aims at commercialising the technology.
Currently, I'm leading the demonstration project, funded by the Dutch government, in a consortium with 12 partners.
